Welcome to Cobscook Bay Cottages
Looking for solitude, great views, ocean breezes, fields, rugged coastline, and woods to explore? Then you will not be disappointed at this remote, two hundred acre former 'saltwater farm', situated on pristine Cobscook Bay. We offer a return to the past when life was much simpler in a restful, scenic location and a remote setting not often found on the coast of Maine.
At Cobscook Bay Cottages you will rediscover nature. Famous for its bald eagle population, Cobscook Bay also is home to loons, ducks, sandpipers, coot, and terns. A birder spotted over 100 different birds one foggy week last summer! Wildlife such as moose, deer, rabbits, and foxes may also greet you; and since Cobscook Bay has the second highest and lowest tides in the word, a kayaker might see a seal or two soaking up the sun on the low tide ledges.
My wife Linda and I will be your hosts. We provide bikes and kayaks for your use, or you can just curl up on the porch with a good book, watch the incredible sunrises, stroll along gravel beaches, hike four miles of trails, explore seaside coves, enjoy wildflowers and birds or try your hand at a Maine pastime, clamming. At the end of the day, take in the incredible sunsets and then view the stars. However you spend your time, it will be an enjoyable experience.

They-ahh say you can't get there-ahh from hee-yahh, but we found a few different ways that you can!

Down East, Maine, USA (Near Eastport), 110 miles East of Bangor International Airport
from Bangor, Maine
Proceed on Rt. 1A to Ellsworth. Take Rt. 1 north to Machias and on to Whiting, Edmunds, and Pembroke. The Cannon Hill Road (not very well marked) is 4.7 miles from the Pembroke Irving Gas Station. Look for the Cobscook Bay Cottages sign. Turn right on the Cannon Hill Road and proceed about 1 mile to the Birch Point Road. This is the second right on the Cannon Hill Road. Proceed to the white farmhouse at the end of the road. You have reached Birch Point. Travel time from Bangor is approximately 21/2 hours or 120 miles. Good luck!
from Calais or Canada
Proceed on Rt. 1 south from Calais to Perry. Go past the turn to Eastport (Rt. 190) and continue past the Polar Treat ice cream stand. Approximately 1 mile on your left will be the Cannon Hill Road. Turn left and proceed until you reach the second right, the Birch Point Road. Proceed to the white farmhouse at the end of the road. You have found Birch Point! Travel time from Calais is about 30 minutes or 26 miles.
Time Saver Route (saves about 20 miles)
Take Rt. 9 from Bangor/Brewer and proceed to Alexander. Just down the hill from the Alexander School, turn right on to the Cooper Road. Continue to the intersection of Rt.191. Turn left on Rt. 191. Continue through the village of Meddybemps bearing right on Rt. 214. Proceed to Rt. 1 in Pembroke. Turn left and proceed to Perry. Follow directions above from Bangor. Good luck!
